Alexandra Cousteau Presents the Blue Cities Alliance at the Hellenic Parliament

During the session of the Water Resources Subcommittee of the Special Permanent Committee on Environmental Protection, Cousteau presented the Blue Cities Alliance as a new model for coastal leadership, designed to help cities turn their relationship with the sea into a source of resilience, prosperity, civic pride, and measurable ocean recovery.

The discussion brought together representatives from government, diplomacy, local authorities, sport, education, business, and civil society, underscoring Greece’s growing role in shaping the future of ocean action in the Mediterranean and beyond.

The presentation marked an important step in the development of BCA Athens, the first flagship city of the Blue Cities Alliance, and reinforced the central idea behind the initiative: coastal cities are not only on the front lines of ocean change, they are also among the most powerful places to lead the work of restoration.
